How to protect your mobile device from remote access by scammers

November 29, 2023

Hacking or losing a mobile device can lead to serious trouble. Strangers can gain access to your bank accounts, accounts, personal information and medical data, they can send messages to your family and friends, or even simply encrypt or delete the data.

Application-based mobile threats

Applications are often the root of mobile device vulnerabilities. These types of attacks can occur when users download malicious apps or grant apps permission to access device data without considering whether it is safe to do so.

How to prevent remote access to your mobile device

  • Do not download programs at the request of strangers.

  • Got a call from an unfamiliar number asking you to install an application on your device? Most likely, scammers are calling you.

  • Do not click on links sent during a call, and do not install imposed applications such as AnyDesk, TeamViewer and other screen-sharing applications on Android and iOS devices.

If such applications are installed, the fraudster will be able to access your Android and iOS mobile device from any device (PC, smartphone, tablet), and on Android also remotely control it. In this way, scammers can transfer your funds or take out a loan in your name.

On Android, antivirus software can neutralize malware and prevent spyware from being installed. Android devices come with Google Play Protect, which scans apps before they are downloaded to ensure they are safe.

Make mobile security a priority — it won't take long! If you follow these simple tips, your mobile device and data will be safe.
